Our Malibu camp is held at Cottontail Ranch in Calabasas,
California, nestled in the mountains just above Malibu. The
camp has a rustic, western theme complete with a horse arena and
western town front. This location is unique to our
programs…horseback riding, beautiful swimming pool,
state-of-the-art climbing wall, basketball courts, archery and
fields for games of the imagination.
The cabins at Cottontail are rustic wooden structures with
tiled floors, screened windows, electricity and heaters for the
colder evenings.
Camp del Corazon Malibu
Activities
Camp Del Corazon provides a variety of fun and exciting
activities for campers of all ages. All of the activities are
lead by trained Activity Counselors and supervised by one of our
Med Nurses. Our on site physicians not only oversee all medical
needs of our campers but are known to jump in and play and/or
teach some of the activities as well. At Camp Del Corazon Malibu all
volunteer staff members attend staff training prior to working
with our children. Each day the campers attend 5 to 6 activity
periods accompanied by their cabin counselors.

Horseback Riding
Campers not only have the opportunity to ride these horses but
they also spend time learning about the animals, and their
needs. Campers can be found brushing, and saddling up these
horses all day long.

The Climbing Wall
Campers are encouraged to safely climb to the top of the wall,
and to push their own limits and abilities, all the while being
harnessed in and monitored by trained belay experts.

Adventure Games
These games are designed help build team power! All games
encourage listening and cooperation skills as well promote
self-esteem and self awareness.

Pool Activities
All campers have the opportunity to swim, play various pool
games such as pool baseball and Marco Polo. Trained
lifeguards oversee each activity in addition to one or two
counselors, and nurses at all times!

Archery
Campers have the opportunity to shoot at the bull's-eye on the
archery field after learning all safety rules. Some become as
good as William Tell!

Target Sports
This activity goes beyond just shooting a BB gun at a target.
Our older campers also learn how to respect and properly use the
equipment, as well as range safety including when and where it
is appropriate to handle the BB guns.

Performing Arts
During this activity cabins have the opportunity to seek
creative assistance in building their camp skits. This time also
allows campers to be exposed to some improvisational skills,
dance skills, and many other activities that will challenge them
creatively.

Arts and Crafts
Every year brings new and different arts and crafts projects
including friendship bracelets, tie-dye shirts and pillowcases,
mosaic tiles and leather tooling. It is also at this activity
that campers are encouraged to write notes of thanks to be
distributed to the donors who make camp possible.

Court/Field Games
Campers have the option of court or field game to play. Options
include basketball, tennis, Ultimate Frisbee, or just throwing a
football or dancing. Full cabin participation is encouraged, but
also allows for campers to build bonds with other peers.

Gold Panning
What is better than finding gold
right there at camp! Campers will use the old technique of
swirling water in a pan to search for their riches.

Evening Program
Each night of camp the Camp Director and Unit Directors put on
wonderful, all camp, programs that will never to be forgotten.
You never know what will happen next.

Evening Campfire
One night of each camp session everyone meets in the Air-Stream
Theater (Catalina) or the Amphitheater (Malibu) where campers
and staff put on crazy shows and skits. Songs are led by the
Directors, and then as the fire slowly burns down, we tell quiet
stories and gaze at the stars. It is at the campfire that
S'mores are made and stories of the
day’s activities are shared.

We brought in this professional S'mores maker just for campfire
Specialty Activities
Due to the close proximity of
Cottontail Ranch to the city of Los Angeles we have the
opportunity to bring in specialty staff to teach a variety of
new activities. These activities vary depending on the
availability of instructors, but could include classes such as
cartooning, photography, cinematography, mosaics, fencing, and
many others.
