Ski Camp

The goal of this unique program is
to provide an opportunity for children living with heart disease
the experience of participating in various mountain activities,
which they thought they could never do because of the altitutde
while under the medical supervision of our professional staff.
The activities
include skiing, ice skating, sledding, pottery making, and dog
sledding provided by Mammoth Dog Team, and don’t forget about
the snowmen! Ski lessons are provided through Disabled
Sports Eastern Sierra, a team of specialized instructors who
have previously worked with our Leadership group.

Ski Lessons
Campers will participate in at least one ski lesson while at
camp. Lessons are taught by Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra
instructors, and are commonly taught in a one-on-one or
one-on-two setting. DSES Instructors are specially trained to
deal with skiers with special needs.

Dog Sledding
Mammoth Dog Teams has graciously
provided our campers with a chance to experience what it is like
to be part of a dog sled team. Campers take a 25 min ride in a
sled pulled a team of dogs into the beautiful back area of
Mammoth Mountain and then back to the main lodge.

As part of this experience campers
get to also spend some time indoors, decorating a piece of
ceramic art that is then auctioned off at one of our camp
fundraising auctions in the upcoming year.
