What is PACE?
PACE, Progressive Adult Congenital Experience, is a Camp Del
Corazon program that has been designed specifically for young
adults, ages 18 to 25, as they transition from teen years into
adulthood. This program is designed and lead by mentors who have
participated in and graduated from the PACE program.
The program was founded in 2004, and our leaders have had the
opportunity to attend Camp in both Malibu and Los Angeles, CA,
ski retreats at Mammoth Mountain, and assist with various other
camp events including our summer camp and the family weekend
held at Universal Studios Hollywood.
During camps and retreats leaders work on numerous skills
that will assist them in getting ready for the future. Such
skills include teambuilding, communication and listening skills,
goal setting, and challenging themselves to try new things that
promote internal growth. Participants also receive information
from professionals on many different topics including taking
responsibility for themselves and their healthcare, insurance
options, and the latest medical technology.
But don’t worry, it is not all work. As many of the
participants now will tell you, we play as hard as we work by
skiing, snowboarding, creating movies, telling stories,
swimming, eating and much more.
The possibilities for the future are endless! Come join us in
the fun that is PACE.
